The Dime Bank Donates $14,500 to United Way Education Programs

(Honesdale, PA)  The Dime Bank received approval for a $14,500 tax credit through the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program in order to contribute to the United Way of Lackawanna and Wayne Counties. The funds were split between two different United Way programs focused on building children’s success in school and throughout their lives.

The Dime Bank contributed $7,000.00 to the Pre-Kindergarten Scholarship Program which allows the United Way to provide scholarship assistance for Pre-K programs. Through this program, tuition assistance is provided for children from income eligible families to attend quality, approved pre-kindergarten programs in Wayne County; bridging the gap for families and helping the children get a solid start toward success in school and beyond. $7,500.00 of the contribution will go towards approved innovative educational programs designed to enhance the curriculum or academic programs of our area schools.  Through this program, school-age children in Wayne County are afforded opportunities to participate in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) activities as well as quality afterschool programs.

“The United Way is grateful to our corporate partners like The Dime Bank who share our vision to help all children in our community enjoy academic success on the way to successful futures,” said Gary Drapek, president of the United Way of Lackawanna and Wayne Counties.

The EITC program, which is administered by the PA Department of Community and Economic Development, provides a tax rebate program. The Dime Bank has been participating in the EITC program since 2001 and is dedicated to supporting education in our communities through the sponsorship of many different programs and venues.
