That’s why, through our Community Impact Fund, we invest in the building blocks of a good life - education, income and health – and provide community members with opportunities for better lives.
Our United Way is focused on results to ensure that YOUR gift will make the greatest difference possible. The following highlights a few examples of how your gift is used in our communities:
• EDUCATION – For many children in our area, their education is the greatest economic equalizer they will ever know. At United Way, we are fighting for school readiness, academic achievement, quality out-of-school time and the development of new skills and knowledge. This has evolved to reach deep into the community with effective partnerships and targeted programs to enhance long term family and early childhood needs, school attendance, summer learning opportunities, and so much more.
• FINANCIAL STABILITY – United Way helps working adults gain financial stability through education, family sustaining employment and asset development through careful budgeting and sound financial decision making. In addition, more than $600,000 is distributed annually to assist with basic emergencies such as food, clothing and shelter.
• HEALTH – At United Way, we believe that everyone deserves access to the resources and options they need to lead healthy lives at any age. We also believe that our growing senior population has the right to age in good health, with dignity in their homes and communities. Healthy eating and physical activity, safe homes and healthy communities and access to health care continue to be our focus for Lackawanna and Wayne Counties.
When you give to our United Way you can rest assured that your gift will be used effectively. In fact, nearly 99 cents of every dollar donated to United Way of Lackawanna and Wayne Counties stays local and nearly 86 cents goes directly to fund programs and services.
