Hurricane Recovery Fund

Return to Campaign >>

In response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Florence and Michael, the United Way of Lackawanna and Wayne Counties (UWLWC) has once again established a Hurricane Recovery Fund for those in Lackawanna and Wayne Counties who would like to make a donation.

The purpose of the UWLWC Hurricane Recovery Fund is to offer long-term help to communities as they face the devastating impact of these monster storms, offering hope and help when and where it’s needed most. A cornerstone of the United Way’s disaster response is to support community rebuilding after the work of first responders is done.

The funds will be sent to United Way Worldwide’s Hurricane Recovery Fund which will assist residents of the Carolinas, Florida, Georgia and other impacted areas in the Southeastern United States.

100% of individual donations given to the UWLWC Hurricane Recovery Fund will be used to meet storm-related needs and support mid- and long-term recovery in the affected areas.

Individual donors wishing to specifically direct their UWLWC Hurricane Recovery Fund donation may choose:
  • Hurricane Florence Recovery
  • Hurricane Michael Recovery
  • Specify a local United Way(s) in the impacted area(s) (please provide an address to ensure the designation of your gift)
If donors would like to direct their UWLWC Hurricane Recovery Fund donation to one of these specific areas, they are asked to indicate their preference on their pledge form, the memo line of their check or in the "Notes" section of our online donation form.
