Alvaro Garcia

Alvaro Garcia, Scranton, joined the United Way in August of 2021 as the RSVP Director.  Originally from Oaxaca, Mexico, Garcia graduated from Lackawanna College in 2020 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.  He became a loan specialist for a financial firm for a little over a year before joining the United Way of Lackawanna and Wayne Counties.

Alvaro’s time with the United Way first began as an intern with the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Program, where he helped prepare qualifying Lackawanna and Wayne County  residents’ tax returns.
