CALLING HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS
Apply today for the $6,300 Mike Munchak Community Service
United Way of Lackawanna and Wayne Counties has established the
Mike Munchak Community Services Scholarship to assist high
school students from Lackawanna or Wayne Counties, PA who plan
to continue their education at an accredited university,
college, or trade school in a two or four year degree program.
If selected, the 2017 recipient will receive
a one-time $6,300 award to commemorate Mike's #63 which he wore
throughout his playing days and was officially retired by the
Houston Oilers in 1996.
Awarding of the Scholarship will take
place at the 22nd Annual Mike Munchak Charity Golf Classic
dinner following the tournament at the Country Club of
Scranton on June 26. Photos of recipient and parent(s) will be taken with
Mike during the program portion of the tournament.

The scholarship amount for 2017 is
The scholarship will be awarded
for a one (1) year period only
Open only to graduating seniors
within school districts
in Lackawanna or Wayne County,
Demonstrate commitment through
community service activities
within programs/agencies receiving funding from United Way of Lackawanna
and Wayne Counties
Lackawanna County Partner Agencies
Wayne County Grant Recipients
Demonstrate financial need
Demonstrate academic achievement
(GPA of 2.5 or better)
Applicants must be graduating
seniors from a public, private, parochial or charter school
within either of the two counties
Applicants must complete and submit a valid
signed application form along with all required
documentation, essay response and letter of reference from
the nominating United Way funded program/agency.
Applications are to be postmarked no later than March
Any incomplete packets will not be considered.
